CO2 Calculator

The Carbon Dioxide Cost Allocation Act came into force on 1 January 2023. In rented buildings, the carbon dioxide cost of heating oil, natural gas and other fuels must now be shared between the landlord and tenant. The apportionment ratio is determined by the amount of greenhouse gas emissions emitted by the building, which can be determined on the basis of the building's fuel consumption.

To help users better calculate their share of the costs, we have helped the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection to develop a CO2 cost sharing calculation tool. The main purpose of this tool is to remove the complexity of the calculation process so that the user only has to enter the values they know and the system will give them an indicative estimate of the costs.

The CO2 Calculator online tool allows you to calculate and apportion the cost of carbon dioxide in a building or apartment and understand the basic calculation steps. The tool can be used to illustrate and assist with the necessary calculation steps, but does not replace independent documentation for operating cost accounting and claims.
